Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Moab, Utah, Southwest, Desert. Moab Utah is one of the most striking landscapes on earth. The town of Moab is sandwiched between Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park and the alpine peaks of the La Sal Mountains to the east. Canyonland’s grand vistas and chiseled canyons often are a pleasurable assault on the senses. Arches National Park’s sandstone formations bring amazing landscapes to your lens and wonder to your soul.

The Moab area is a paradise for photographers. Under conditions of constantly changing light, Moab's red rock landscapes provide limitless photographic opportunities. Moab’s unique combination of beautiful red rock scenery, two national parks, and the cool waters of the Colorado River have made it one of the most sought after destinations in the southwest.

  • False Kiva, Canyonlands National Park. Anasazi ruin high on a Colorado Plateau cliff. A kiva is a room used by modern Puebloans for religious rituals by modern Hopi and most other Pueblo peoples, today kivas are square-walled and underground, and are used for spiritual ceremonies. Similar subterranean rooms are found among ruins in the American Southwest, indicating ritual or cultural use by the ancient peoples of the region including the Ancient Pueblo Peoples. Those used by the ancient Anasazi were usually round, and generally believed to have been used for religious and other communal purposes.

  • Sunset overlooking the Park Avenue area of Arches National Park. Oh, Park Avenue, more often viewed from the foot of the spires creates more awe; however, I find the overall landscape from above is interesting also.
